The history of the Château de Montreuil-Bonnin At the top of the village, the Château de Montreuil-Bonnin has watched over its inhabitants and the Boivre valley since the 13th century. A witness to medieval military architecture, the castle played a leading defensive and economic role, from the Plantagenet era to that of the Wars of Religion. Over the centuries, the fortress has seen many illustrious figures such as Richard the Lionheart, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Saint Louis, Du Guesclin... A unifying project “My parents entrusted us with the castle and the difficult mission of its preservation. Before accepting this adventure, we asked our five children for their advice. It is a project which requires time, money and which inevitably has an impact on them. » And the family has been investing in running the castle for 10 years. “Everyone gets involved differently, depending on their skills: gardening, DIY, communication... there is always something to do! » Today, Isabelle Dupont de Beaucorps is the owner and manager, with her husband Jérôme. A backup mission that she carries out full time. The family adventure began in 1862 with Pierre Ernest Chénier, Isabelle's ancestor. 150 years later, the couple inherited the site. Renovate and share Isabelle Dupont is at the helm of this formidable project, supported by her husband. “He is passionate, he has become an expert in knights and the history of the site! ". Classified as a historic monument in 1840, this endangered rural heritage has undergone a major renovation campaign since 2013. After the medieval dwelling, the small house and its open barn, then the entrance gate, today, it is the keep which is being renovated. “This site must remain a place of life, we do everything to share it and open it” So as a family it is possible to rent the Renaissance accommodation to share it and open it. So, as a family, it is possible to rent the Renaissance accommodation. A medieval festival (with a banquet in costumes) will be given during the European Heritage Days (September 17 and 18, 2022), as well as a concert and a candlelight dinner for the Night of the Castles (October 22, 2022).
